We are rapidly watching our world turn into a place where attention and content are the new currency. How does one find the truth when we monetize going viral for outrage? How do we reward the creation of an epic when it gets buried by 200 people who immediately tell AI to copy the work and make it more accessible? For a long time I believed there would be a knee-jerk reaction to the immediate convenience of everything that would result in people caring about the process something is made, but lately I think commodification of everything will win out.

Despite this, or rather, in spite of this, I have continued to double down on my belief that we can choose what we give meaning to. I give just as much meaning to the process as I do the outcome when making my art. We should all worry less about feeding an ever hungry algorithm with content and more about working with intention: savor what you do and relish in the very act of doing it.

My email is catrussellart@gmail.com, and feel free to reach out. I'll probably just be sitting around cutting and gluing paper and am usually up for a good chat.
