The oddest taste of irony comes to us flavored in penny copper
and five cent nickel alloy. All those 80’s and 90’s children in grainy
news broadcasts that fell into the depths of the well
Wishing for rescue to ascend upon the pinhole light above
They grew from cautionary tale into a tattered flag planted
in a society so greed based and incrementally soul sucking
that even a ticket to the otherside comes with a service fee
Even in the directions of the next subsequent limbo
And now, It is freed from the well that they’re in a state of rock bottom
staring down into its ash black belly as if it were their heart’s floor
Carpeted in the shimmering coins of the many simply wishing for a means
Staring down into its unknown abyss, searching for a world of change
